With our lease up, my ex-roomie and I by just about a week desperately needed a quality pow wow sesh after days of scrambling to move out, seeing family, cleaning, crossing borders from another state (which is what really went down for this girl), and whatever else that may have happened that neither of us can keep track of anymore. And what better way is there to lift your spirits than just strolling around downtown Seattle and randomly dining at an awesome looking pub that came straight out of Pinterest? Absolutely nothing. The food was dang hardy, as you can see, and it put us in a hardcore food coma, but with the hardwood, craftsman type architecture and with quite the low key mood, the ambience was full of great vibes and took you completely out of Seattle. This trip has got me searching for more German pubs in the area so ya’ll will see a lot more potatoes, meat, kraut, and mustard in my future expeditions.

I can’t believe my time here in this wonderful house is coming to a close. It’s been a full year since I moved into this cozy room. Yes, it is shaped weird and it’s not really a typical bedroom but more like an office space or a storage room, yet I made the best of this little nook to keep me warm and relaxed. Now that I’m officially being kicked out and I’ve gone through a pack of swiffer cleaning sheets, the deep cleaning sesh is over it has never looked this crisp since the day I moved in! Ha! I’m sure ya’ll can relate that when your schedule gets crazy, your room can look even crazier…and it quickly escalates into a situation that you never knew existed, because you thought you were a clean freak. Enough said. I will truly miss everything about this room from chill nights to fun hang outs with friends and the comfort that was here. But, with the deep cleansing done and now that it has freshened up for the next kiddos to move in, a new kind of breeze is blowing in through these squeaky clean windows. I’m really not sure what the next summer breeze will feel like. But, it’s exciting to think about. For now, today’s was clean, cool, fresh, and it cleared my mind, and I’m okay if the next one doesn’t feel familiar.

Aaaaand, probably the most delicious cold glass of iced latte I have ever slowly, daintily sipped on in my life. This is no exaggeration. Truly a glass full of happiness.

Hey ya’ll. You know sometimes when you feel like you wanna wear all grey, slowly sip on a plastic to-go cup filled with ice water with a black straw, and listen to some chill music like Sam Smith and kick it by the stairs? No? K, well that’s what I wanted to do today and did just that (before heading to my night shift that is). I think it’s totally fine to feel low-key and have some quiet sessions to yourself, even during a sunny summer day! Let things cleanse within, clear the mind, and blankly look up at the sky. I need it, you need it.

I do want to highlight two pieces in this outfit though, which are the Poleci grey cropped Origami Trousers and my newly picked up TOPSHOP platform sandals that was a STEAL. The price was crazy good, the nude color was so gawwwgeous, and I really really enjoy my ankle straps. They really lock these feet in and as for me, I need them to get me through a whole lot of standing during the day for work, but will allow me to take them out on a night out with friends. (I truly value versatility if you have not noticed). These TOPSHOP platform sandals have been doing work! The Poleci trousers also got so many compliments today and I think that’s attributed to the cropped detail, which for trousers that look pretty formal, give it some edge that allows for its pairing with playful pieces. Trousers are not always for business trips you know. I feel like I could have even wore a black nike slip on sandal with some white high socks with this outfit too to go for a tom-boy edgy vibe…well next time :)

The other day, I decided to go on a solo Seattle wandering trip where I have no agenda with nothing in mind, no purpose, no expectations and a full day of simply wandering. Even though I’ve been in Seattle for four years, I felt like I was so locked up in the University District area where I went to school. Now looking back, I’m not so sure that I made the best of those four years getting to know the city. I don’t like regrets and this is not necessarily a regret, but yes, even though I was overwhelmingly busy at times with design work, it’s really soaking in just in these recent months as I have gained much more free time, that you really don’t need a pre-planned trip or a set up group exploration date to stumble upon awesome places that exude it’s own unique vibe. That day, I probably went into at least 15 different stores, shops, cafes, or view points and each place was somewhere that I have once heard of but have never made my way there, a place that I’ve once been to a loooong time ago and forgot about, or a hidden gem that caught my eye from the street corner and had me running towards it, thinking “WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!” Along the way, I met some great Seattleites who were passionate about their jobs, their lives, and simply had…stroooong…energies. As the day went on wandering from place to place, I had so many conversations with strangers who told me stories, gave me the must-see lists of things they loved in Seattle, and each time, I increasingly felt a boost in my energy and spirit. The little things I don’t go out of my way to do on a regular basis had me forgetting the joy and happiness that can come from them and how reviving those moments can be. I didn’t care about my worries, my thoughts that usually sprint back and forth throughout the day or the list of tasks I had written down on my notebook when I got home that night. I was totally in. the. moment.

For a day of adventures, outfit wise, I want to be super comfortable but I also love to feel casually ‘cool’ when walking down the city streets…yes, cool, but c’mon, it’s a day to yourself, you want to feel good (who doesn’t) and it’s an excuse to put some thought into your outfit and try that new cat-eye look you saw on a beauty channel on YouTube (which was truly my case.) Who knows, you may stumble upon a festival (which is not uncommon in Seattle), that cute boy serving you coffee, or whatever. You knows what I means. Just make sure that those shoes you’re wearing are labeled for ‘hiking’ too because if you’re a Seattleite you know that you will pretty much be walking on a treadmill at incline level 10 wherever you go. For me, leveled platforms do me good since they have no heel and lock in well with the ankle straps. If you also have wide feet like me, the one I’m wearing with this outfit is very very friendly on them poor toes.

I’m actually pretty stoked for this post. I know its super basic featuring the basic basic white T and some (awesomely and perfectly distressed) denim shorty shorts but wanted to play with it and show how a little love can be added to such a simple look. (not to get the white t and denim look mistaken for boring, its just simple and simply timeless). This time around, I threw on a big and deceivingly light weight statement necklace and a thin minimalistic chain necklace to add some length, as well as a couple of bracelets that had the same kind of rustic feel. But, the best addition to bedazzle (not literally, please) this look is.. THE HAIR. I honestly have not done a parted pigtail braid since..middle school?! I can’t even recall. HOWEVER, I’m totally into it. I think when the look is right, it gives some funk and fun to the entire outfit and it definitely helped to transform this image from a lazy day grocery shopping sad look to a lazy day grocery shopping, but an effortless, ‘hip’ one (for a lack of a better word). I also just got some layers in my hair so I’m enjoying how they crazily poke out in all directions from my braids! Don’t be afraid to do something funky with your hair this summer! Have fun with it because I don’t know about you but I definitely get bored leaving it down or defaulting to a tie back!

On that note, have a crazy hair Monday!

ps. If you haven’t played the tune above, play it now. It’s so funky and awesome.
